Thirty years of Van Roon in the UK

Van Roon Medical UK was founded in Leeds in October 1995 with four staff and a showroom bed.

Van Roon Medical UK was registered in Leeds in October 1995. Its first four employees, a manager, two engineers and an administrator, worked from a rented industrial unit with one VR-3 bed for demonstrations.

The first order came the following spring, for twelve VR-3 beds for an intensive-care unit in Yorkshire. That hospital still uses VR-series beds and has replaced them twice since.

Today the company employs 94 people and services about 7,400 VR-series beds at 168 hospitals in the UK and Ireland.

To mark the anniversary, staff and former staff met at Morley on 3 October. Among them was Derek Stothard, one of the two original engineers, who retired in 2019 after 24 years.
