Software and firmware
Each VR-series bed runs a software package made up of the controller firmware, which moves the bed and runs its safety functions, and the panel software, which drives the footboard panel and the side rail controls.
Notes
Controller firmware 4.12 installed on all beds
The update announced in CI-UK-2025-06 is complete. Every VR-series bed on our service records in the UK and Ireland runs controller firmware 4.12.
VR-7 2025.2 and VR-5 2025.3 released
Both packages include controller firmware 4.12. Van Roon engineers will install them at each bed’s next planned maintenance visit. See customer information CI-UK-2025-06.

How updates are installed
Software is not available to download from this website. Packages are installed with the Van Roon service tool, a Windows program that connects to the bed’s USB service port, by Van Roon engineers or by hospital engineers who hold a current Level 2 certificate for the product.
Where an update is needed for safety, we write to every hospital concerned with a customer notice and install it at no charge. Other updates are installed at the next planned maintenance visit for beds under a Van Roon service agreement, and are available to Level 2 engineers on request.
Beds fitted with the remote diagnostics module (VR7-0480 or VR5-0480) send their event log to the Van Roon service centre in Leiden when the hospital allows it. Software cannot be installed through the remote diagnostics module.
To ask for a package, give the serial numbers of the beds and the name of the Level 2 engineer who will install it to the service desk on 0808 157 0614 or service@vanroon.uk.
